For example, rather than setting a broad goal like “I want to be healthier,” a realistic goal would be “I will exercise for 30 minutes a day, five times a week.” This goal is specific (30 minutes of exercise), measurable (five times a week), and attainable (based on current fitness level).

  • Specific Goals: Clearly define what you want to achieve. Specific goals have precise targets, which makes it easier to focus your efforts. For instance, if you want to improve your career, set a specific goal like “I aim to gain a promotion to a managerial position within the next 12 months.”


  • Measurable Goals: Determine how you will measure progress. For example, you might measure your progress by completing professional development courses or taking on additional projects at work. This helps you track your achievements and stay motivated.


  • Break Goals into Manageable Steps

Large goals can be overwhelming, so breaking them down into smaller, more manageable steps is essential. This process, known as “chunking,” makes a big goal feel more achievable and less intimidating.


For example, if your goal is to write a book, start by breaking it down into smaller tasks such as:


- Creating an outline

- Writing a set number of words each day

- Completing a chapter by a specific deadline


By focusing on these smaller steps, you can make steady progress and feel a sense of accomplishment as you complete each task.
